My recent home upgrade in Reading

I needed a bespoke home bar after hosting a gathering where we lacked space. I chose to search near Reading Station.

I stumbled upon the website while browsing and sent photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens replied with a price that felt right for the job.

The journey of planning this project was actually quite detailed. I spent several days reflecting on the configuration of the room before ever picking up the phone. My living area has constantly felt a bit unfinished, and having a proper area for drinks felt like the ideal solution to that issue. I remember standing in my hallway looking at a cluttered countertop covered with glassware and feeling that something had to shift. The first interaction with the staff was extremely simple, which provided me confidence. We talked different aesthetics, from contemporary minimalist looks to something classic and wooden textures. I was really impressed by how many detail they requested about the dimensions and the existing decor of my house. It seemed like they truly wanted the final result to match perfectly with the balance of the building. I offered multiple views in the photos I uploaded, ensuring sure every nook was visible. They explained that the custom nature of the unit meant that precision was absolutely paramount to avoid any problems throughout the installation. We went forth and forth on potential materials, searching at samples of quartz and different types of timber grain. It is surprising how much consideration goes into selecting the correct hardware, like knobs and copyrights, which could totally change the vibe of the entire build. I wanted a space where I could comfortably prepare drinks for guests without needing to repeatedly dash back to the pantry for lemons or glasses. The convenience of having everything in a single place was the primary driver for this purchase. We settled the design after a short meeting where all my questions about wiring and electric points were addressed. I appreciated that they did not hurry the planning stage, taking the time to ensure that the width of the racks was sufficient for my tallest glassware. It felt like a joint process rather than a simple sale, which is hard to find these days.

The installation date came sooner than anticipated, and the fitter was on time and prepared. He started by placing down safety covers to ensure my flooring remained clean. Watching the components being unpacked was fascinating, as the quality of the materials was immediately obvious. He carefully checked the alignment of the walls before attaching the main structure of the unit. I observed as the skeleton gradually gained shape, changing a boring corner into a functional piece. The level of skill required in scribing the boards to the wonky walls of my period house was impressive. He explained why each section fitted in to create maximum strength. We wasted a little duration deciding on the final height for the integrated fridge, making sure it was easy to reach but hidden back from direct view. The installation of the worktop was the highly rewarding part of the whole process. Seeing the polished surface at last resting on the base helped the project feel real. He next fitted the mirrored backing, which instantly caused the space to feel twice the size. The lighting were wired afterward, and checking them for the initial time was a thrill. The warm glow underneath the racks highlighted the glassware perfectly. I was able to visualise exactly how handy this might be for night events. The worker was very diligent, spending the time to clean down each area and clear any debris created during the drilling. He additionally showed me how to move the shelves should I ever needed to house bigger items. The attention to precision was truly great, straight down to the silicone beads along the edges. It was obvious that he took great satisfaction in his craft, which is consistently reassuring to witness. We conducted a last walkthrough of the finished work to make everything was perfect. I observed that a single handle was a bit loose, and he fixed it straight away with a quick turn of a tool. This diligence was just what I was hoping for when I booked the service.

The completed bar looks completely stunning and has turned into the focal point of my downstairs. It provides a sophisticated feel that was previously lacking from my reception space. The storage is immense, allowing me to sort all my spirits, mixers, and specialist glassware in one cohesive place. No longer do I have to search through cramped kitchen shelves to find a corkscrew or a specific kind of glass. Everything has its rightful place, which renders hosting much much simpler and relaxing. I enjoy the way the finishes reflect the sunlight in the evenings, creating a warm atmosphere. My friends have now complimented the setup several times, with some even asking for the contact of the people who made it. It really feels like a custom addition made exactly for my lifestyle. The elevation of the surface is ideal for leaning by with a drink, and the integrated lighting strips offer just the right level of illumination without being overpowering. Even when not in use, it serves as a lovely piece of furniture that lifts the entire look of the property. I spent a bit time arranging my collection on the shelves to make a pleasing display. The glass back truly help in displaying the labels and adding dimension to the tight alcove. It has inspired me to experiment creating new drinks that I before thought were too complicated to bother in a normal setting. Having the sink nearby would have been good, but the space limits resulted in we opted without it to preserve storage space. This was a conscious decision we made during the design stage, and I certainly not regret it. The additional cupboard room for straws and tools is much more useful to me in the long term.

There were a few of minor limitations that are fair to mentioning for a honest perspective. The wait period for the bespoke doors was a bit longer than I originally wanted. It took about six days from the initial deposit to the final fitting appointment. While this is expected for high-quality work, it required a bit of waiting on my part. I had hoped to have it finished for a specific birthday, but we missed that deadline by a week. However, the updates from the team about the delay was consistent, so I was not kept in the dark. I would hold a bit longer for a result that is built to endure than receive a hasty work that breaks after a few years. The initial cost quote was additionally slightly less than the total bill, mainly because I chose to improve the handles and include more internal lighting midway during the process. These changes were entirely my choice, and the team was very transparent about the additional costs required. Another small point was the volume of boxes remaining following the install. Although the technician tidied up the work site perfectly, there was a large amount of waste to dispose of in my recycling. It wasn't a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if you have limited waste space. Despite these minor points, the overall experience was very positive. The standard of the finish is much better to anything I might have purchased off-the-shelf. It feels solid and well-constructed, and I am sure it will handle decades of use. I feel the worth it has given to my home far exceeds the upfront cost. It has transformed the way I enjoy my downstairs area, making it far more inviting. I no anymore feel cramped when people come over.

Thinking back on the entire project, I am really glad I went forward with it. The first idea came from a trip to a neighbour's place in Oxford, where they had a similar bar. I realised then how much it improved the flow of the party. When I got back to Reading, I started looking for local firms and found that working with a specialist provider was the only way to achieve the exact look I wanted. The ability to pick every detail, from the shade of the stain to the position of the power sockets, made the final product was exactly as I envisioned. I also had a small hidden compartment built for keeping valuable tools like fancy stirrers. This level of personalisation is what renders the experience unique. It did not feel like a generic item being forced into a room where it did not fit. Instead, it looks like it has always been a part of the house. If you are considering a like-minded home improvement, my advice would be to be calm and invest the effort on the design part. It is far easier to change a sketch than it is to fix a unit once it is built. The knowledge provided at the beginning was invaluable in stopping me from doing common mistakes, such as placing the cooler too near to a radiator. These little bits of wisdom are what you pay for when you choose experienced professionals. I am now looking at other areas of my house to see where else I might add built-in storage. The success of this bar job has given me the drive to start a larger renovation in the bedroom later season. It has been a great addition to my life, and I look forward to many years of enjoying it with relatives and pals. Finding the right balance between looks and function was the aim, and I feel we achieved it perfectly. The journey from click here a messy alcove to a sleek hosting point was well worth the time and investment required. I today have a home that I am truly happy to share off to visitors. Reading has some great places to go for a drink, but truthfully, I now favour being at home and enjoying my own private setup. It offers the same atmosphere without the noise or the travel. That alone was worth the whole undertaking. I am so happy with how the lighting works in the evening, creating a chill environment to relax after a busy day at the office. It is the little luxuries like this that render home living much rewarding and fulfilling. I highly appreciate the craft that was put into the finished result. The way the panels shut with a silent thud speaks plenty about the build level. No detail was overlooked, and the total appearance is precisely what I hoped it would be when I originally started this adventure. It is a testament to the talent of the team and the standard of the components used. I am a very happy customer.
